2020 Harmonized Release Strategy for SAP Cloud for Customer

2020 Harmonized Release Strategy | con4PAS

In order to reduce the planned business downtime, SAP Cloud offerings will harmonize quarterly release upgrades starting in early 2020. All SAP Cloud offering releases will upgrade on the same dates, simplifying your scheduling of planned downtime events.

With quarterly releases also monthly innovations and hotfixes

Customers with multiple SAP Cloud offerings will benefit the most. In addition to quarterly releases, SAP will be also releasing innovations, along with hotfixes, on a monthly basis, starting in March 2020.

This harmonization means that SAP Sales Cloud (former CallidusCloud products) is changing upgrade periods. Starting with the 2002 Release in February 2020, their product upgrades will be done on Saturday mornings 12AM-6AM Pacific Time to harmonize with other SAP products and to better accommodate customers. Additionally, standard maintenance periods for SAP Sales Cloud will also be moved to Saturdays mornings 12AM-6AM Pacific Time starting Saturday, January 4.

Release schedule

  • Quarterly releases will occur in February, May, August, and November.
  • Monthly releases will occur in March, April, June, July, September, October, and December.

What do you need to do?

For monthly releases, you should not have to do anything for a release. For quarterly releases, preparation like user training and testing plans will need to be done.

What is the benefit?

This new approach to bringing product releases to you will harmonize the release process between your SAP products and will give you product features that you need faster. This approach will also accommodate customers whose business days or processes may begin on Sunday mornings Pacific Time.
