We asked Jan Ferjo, Business Development Director at con4PAS, how he perceives the emergence of cloud-based solutions on the Czech market. Read in a series of short articles expert opinion on "Cloud" and his experience with its implementation.

The trend of cloud solutions has recently come even to the Czech Republic and the necessity for every IT supplier is to also have a cloud version of their solution on offer, no matter what is really hidden behind this label. Everywhere around us, in all kinds of presentations, we can see, all the time, the crowds of happy faces of young people bending over their mobile devices, brimming with enthusiasm, over, what I guess are, the results of their work presented in great graphic form and accessible by one click of a finger. So nowadays this trend creates a feeling that the cloud is already everywhere around us, and that you are the only one who still does not have it. "Cloudification" reached us with all of its marketing force.

However, it is good to compare this aura created around cloud solutions to the reality of the local market, which is objectively demonstrated to us by the analysis put out by of the Czech Statistical Office. There we can find that the overall penetration of cloud services in the Czech Republic was 15% in January 2014 (no newer data available). The most often used service is electronic mail, which was used by 12% companies.

By confronting the above-mentioned facts with the creating of marketing reality, we can see that the reality is somewhere else rather than what the marketing is telling us.
