What is SAP Fiori and how does it look?

SAP Fiori is a modern user interface for SAP information systems. It is based on the principle of easy and intuitive control and simple visualization, it respects the principle of working roles and, on top of that, it does not matter what end device the user uses. It can be used from a personal computer just as well as from a mobile device. In the world of SAP, it represents a shift from the cumbersome SAP GUI to a lightweight and customizable graphic interface.

Is SAP Fiori just an interface or is there something more?

SAP Fiori is also the designation of a product standard or a set of tools and instructions on how to create both visual design and behavior so as to adhere to the principles of modern, user-friendly applications.

Looking back with SAP Fiori

The SAP Fiori concept was first introduced in 2013 and since then, there has been a significant development. First, it brought the aspect of easy control to complex business scenarios using modern principles. In October 2016, the new SAP Fiori version 2.0 put even more emphasis on the end-users and the way they work in order to create a flexible environment both in on-premise and cloud solutions.

As of this year, SAP Fiori version 3 is available as a target design for the entire portfolio of SAP products. It is certainly worth mentioning, for example, SAP S/4HANA, the SAP Success Factors Employee Central solution, the SAP Ariba mobile solution, SAP C/4HANA (e.g. Sales Cloud or Service Cloud) and other products.

Despite the fact that in the beginning, nobody knew that SAP Fiori would become so successful, it is now safe to say that it represents a trend with a long-term outlook.
